June 26-29, 2009
Mount Evans, Erie,
and Denver, CO
With all of the major vacation plans I'd had at the start of the year falling by the wayside, I took the opportunity to escape the hotter-than-usual Texas summer and visit Lisa and Robert in Colorado. We went straight from the airport to Mount Evans, a drive that tops out at 14,130 feet, so even though we were dressed for summer, we got to play in the snow.
The next day, Lisa and I toured the new modern art wing of the Denver Art Museum, which was way more fun than either of us had anticipated.
On Day 3, Lisa and Robert took me to Casa Bonita, a Mexican restaurant that I thought existed only on South Park. We also took the Coors Brewery tour, which seemed unchanged from when I'd taken it 12 years earlier.
On the last day of my trip, Lisa and I went to Cherry Creek and found some good Asian food. Then it was time for me to head back to the 100-degree summer of Austin.
